Notice: Paranoia is a Pen-and-Paper RPG. Although this forum section seems to emphasize console RPGs, I figured this would be the best place to post this. I apologize if this is in the wrong section.
How it works:
Like most P&P RPGs, there is a requirement of one GM (game-master; they run the game and (usually) do not act as one of the player characters) and two or more players (three+ is preferred, however). Each player creates a Character Sheet, or the GM provides one, and then the players are sent off on an adventure the GM comes up with.
Paranoia deviates from normal RPGs, such as Dungeons and Dragons, by offering a fairly unique system of intra-party rivalry that helps drive the game. Each player is a 'Troubleshooter', and are tasked with finding trouble...and then shooting it. The most prevalent threats to the game-world are:
- Mutants
- Members of Secret Societies (especially Communists)
As a twist, every player is both a mutant and a member of a secret society. The scale of the goals of Secret Societies is fairly dramatic, with some acting like fan clubs while others want to destroy the world as the characters know it.
If anyone is interested in possibly playing a game like this, I could explain more and/or provide some resources for use.
