http://bit.ly/NewLeagueSystemAs of a few months ago near the Launch of Season 3, League of Legends changed their rating/ranked system from the popular ELO rating to what is now something people commonly compare to Starcraft's (never played, wouldn't know). It moved from rating requirements to get from bronze, silver, gold, etc. To needing 100 "League Points" from winning, and then winning 3/5 promotion series matches.
It was advertised to be "more competitive" (bullshit) and more rewarding (far, far more bullshit). While it may be easy to go up in the tiers they added (6 for each criteria) once you reach Bronze I, Silver I, etc. You then begin to gain less LP as you get more of it. Resulting in many people reaching 90, winning a game, getting 4, winning another, then get 1, and having to even one more just to get to 100.
Its absolutely horrible, just flat out un-fun and especially un-rewarding once you're tier 1. Its damn well impossible to get promoted from one criteria to the next. I've been trying for the last 3 days, doing great even. In the last few hours alone I won 7 out of my 10 games, and guess what? I won 4 in a row, then didn't reach 100, but was at 90. Then I lost 1. Back to 81. Won 3 more, oh and then I lost. Guess what? Now I'm 76. This new system is simply atrocious, I don't know how people can tolerate, or even progress with it.
I made it a goal to get gold before I left because it was a goal for Season 3 as a whole, but now that's just impossible. Tomorrow is my last day, and I see no chance 100% at all of it being possible.
