Hey there.

You can get a decent gaming computer for 600 USD if you build it yourself. I can link you to the parts in a couple of minutes.

www.pcpartpicker.com is good for choosing parts.

Here's a build I configured for you,

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TRSQ

620 USD without rebates.

580 USD after discounts and rebates.

Videos of gameplay on this build I configured you, you should receive similar framerates and performance.

... amd fx is shit. How many times do I have to tell you that? He specifically said GAMING PC. Intel outperforms AMD heavily in terms of gaming. An i5 3570k is the most he will need for gaming. stop recommending fx processors just because they are cheaper

I know Intel outperforms the AMD FX series, but the price:performance ratio is good with AMD processors. FX 8xxx comes into i5 - i7 territory for a 100 dollars less. Games these days also focus heavily on GPU's than they do on CPU's. Heck, you can play most games decently on an i3 dual core.

AMD isn't what it used to be. When there were Athlon and Phenom's it sucked but since the APU's and Bulldozers came out they're doing pretty well, because they finally did it right.

I've use loads of FX series in builds so far, they work amazingly. I know this because I build them for mostly people I know.

*shrug* its up to him. If he wants to pay less for shit and then not be satisfied when his games don't work on high settings it won't be my fault. The only place where quad cores are better than dual cores is benchmarks (and battlefield 3 atm). The current gen i5s are probably faster than any other amd cpus

Uhh, did you not read the part where I stated that most newer games don't depend heavily on CPU's? Your i3 can run most games at high, all you need is a decent graphics card.

Also look at the video links I posted.
