I built a castle
« on: February 26, 2013, 03:31:47 pm »

Why?

I am pretty new to Minecraft I have only been part of it's community for about a month. So I wanted to show off my building skills. Sadly there is not a lot of American creative servers. (That have a low amount of users in them)

So after about an hour or two I completed this castle using a medieval texture pack that made the building experience so much more enjoyable! I hope you like the castle and when I get more structure into the map I will figure out how to make the map downloadable for you guys to play around on or whatever!

I have started a road of sorts, and I think I will soon make a aqueduct once I get working on the hills.

Alright so I completely rebuilt it, because I noticed that some of my measurements didn't match up 100%. I also added some furnishings and other small details to the map!

You can download the current map here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?agrokijardx6k46

I will be adding things to the map here and there.

That's really cool. Is there any way to get to the archery towers?

Yes there is a ladder system.

Basically you might spawn inside or outside of the castle, now when you first enter the castle you will find a dining hall in some sorts it was difficult to put together. I through some torches down and added a couple paintings.

Now when you go into one of the corners (to the left when you first walk in) you will be greeted by a nice spiral staircase that will take you one floor down or all the way to the top. If you go down you will find a well lit basement. There is a small jail cell a couple chests and two servants quarters.

Now if you go up to the first floor (not the dining hall) you will find a barracks of sorts, complete with toilets that are as realistic as they get in Minecraft.

You then head up one more floor to find the master chamber for the king or lord. He has a large bed outfitted with a large chest. There is two big glass panes that allow you to see a birds eye view of the surrounding of your stronghold/castle.

Finally we make it to the top floor which would be your archery towers and overlook. You can walk around it a full 360 degrees and climb into one of the towers!

Wow. Sounds really classy but useful as well, if you are on multiplayer. Most of the castles I built have a layer of sand between two layers of cobblestone for explosive resistance and to slow down intruders.

This is why Minecraft is such a nice game, it lets you innovate everything in a logical, but personal fashion.
