fuk off.

but yeah gtx 680 4gb, but you lose the i7 (well he wouldn't use it to its full potential anyways)
Because an i7 is just an i5 with HT, and that doesn't make a difference when gaming.
Yes, but he said he wnated one.

Yeah, well the idea was to get the best for under 1500 dollars, hence the i7.

Re-add the i7, I want to see the price again. I'm thinking of the 7970 over the 680 now. I'm not sure. It's going to be a long time till I have the money and till I can thinking of what I really want.

Basically. I can build a 10,000 dollar PC, I would just have to wait.

I was thinking of a 1.2k - 2k range for a PC. Large  1 - 3TB hardrive, somewhat small SSD, good i7, maybe i5, amazing GPU, not 690 or 7990 amazing, but good enough to max most games on the market.

go for the 7970. it's cheaper, and almost no difference. if i was more into hardware when i bought my 680 i would have got a 7970.

AND IF YOU EVER MINE BITCOINS IT WILL GIVE YOU $$$$$$

I always thought you were good with computers.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Vskj

But I am :CCCCC

But really, the case is his choice, the PSU, cheaper is better. For cooling, I prefer stock as it does a good enough job and a waste of money to go any further, the RAM is 12GB because he wanted the most out of 1k something dollars otherwise I would've thrown in 8GB as well (refer to previous posts on this thread)

He didn't say to give him the cheapest build, he wants the most out of the money he's willing to spend.

^^ this

I wanted 16 gigs, I like the i7 and the GPU. 7970 seems good. Also, 1TB hardrive is too small, trust me..  1333 mhz ram.. I'd rather have 16 1600 mhz.. I've been working with 400 mhz 6 gigs of ddr2, I'd like something better ;)

Mobo: Make it easy for upgrades, ram, maybe another GPU.
Case: idgaf, long as it keeps stuff COOL. i mean like cold as all hell, and has everything fit.
PSU: Something that'll power my PC and not fuck it over.
Monitor: At least 1080p, I want to do a dual monitor setup. I got a space for another monitor.

Okay for mobo I swapped it for an expensive but more upgradable one that supports RAM frequencies of more than 1600MHz, also 1 more PCI 3.0 for another card, more USB 3.0 ports, more of everything.

added another monitor and HDD.

Remove 1 monitor, I already got 1 21" as a good secondary.

You can edit the build as well, click the Edit button at the top right.

I am, the PSU was a POS that can and will die. For gaming builds always go with a good PSU.

No, not everything cheap has to die. 400w sweex PSU still works after 4 years.

I have a Bestec 250W from 10 years ago when my dad replaced the original one. Still runs.

I also have most of my computers running off of scrapped old PSU's that just don't quit. It's also better if you get a cheap PSU cause it's cheaper to replace. No matter how good or expensive the PSU is; it has to quit on you eventually.

cheap things seem to last longer in my experience. we had this hitch lock for the car, it was a 20 dollar ADVANCED hitch lock, it broke before we even put it on, we got a 5 dollar pin and lock style hitch lock and it works like a charm.

also had a 25 dollar wireless mouse which died because the optical light got messed up and flickered rapidly after around a year and a half of owning it. bought a sub-10 dollar Logitech and it still works 2 years later.

I know I'm late but:

the only time I've ever found an i7 to be useful is when video editing using some gigantic program like PowerDirector 11
